Bringing together voices from across music, culture, creative industries and technology, the event creates a space for exchange around some of the questions that continue to shape our ecosystem:

How can music and culture contribute to more resilient societies, supporting artists, professionals and the creative economy?
And how can they act as drivers for cities and regions, through stronger collaboration between public institutions, industry stakeholders and the creative community?

The gathering also marks the beginning of this year’s collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Athen, bringing the Greek and German creative scenes closer and opening the dialogue around diversity, cultural production and European cooperation.

At its core, the event invites participants to explore how music can act as a bridge across sectors, connecting different efforts and contributing to more connected and resilient communities and societies.

The conversation will feature contributions from:

The event will take place at the Goethe-Institut Athens on March 30, from 18:00 to 21:00, with the discussion scheduled from 18:15 to 19:15.
The evening will then continue with an informal networking session and music, offering space for further exchange until 21:00.

Για τέσσερις ημέρες, το AMW φιλοξενεί παρουσιάσεις, panel discussions, networking events καιshowcase συναυλίες, φέρνοντας κοντά καλλιτέχνες, επαγγελματίες και οργανισμούς από όλο το μουσικό οικοσύστημα. Με περισσότερους από 180 καλεσμένους ομιλητές και 30 καλλιτεχνικά σχήματα από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, το φεστιβάλ συνεχίζει να λειτουργεί ως μια δυναμική πλατφόρμα ανταλλαγής γνώσεων, ιδεών και νέων συνεργασιών.

Στο επίκεντρο της φετινής διοργάνωσης βρίσκεται η εξέλιξη του μουσικού οικοσυστήματος στην Ευρώπη και διεθνώς, στο σημείο όπου συναντώνται η δημιουργικότητα, η τεχνολογία και η κοινότητα. Σε μια περίοδο συνεχών αλλαγών, το AMW αναδεικνύει τη μουσική όχι μόνο ως τέχνη, αλλά και ως πεδίο καινοτομίας, συνεργασίας και ανάπτυξης. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται σε ζητήματα όπως ο ψηφιακός μετασχηματισμός, οι νέες τεχνολογίες στη μουσική δημιουργία, αλλά και νέα μοντέλα εκπαίδευσης, επαγγελματικής ανάπτυξης και ζωντανής μουσικής.

Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, με τη συμμετοχή ευρωπαϊκών δικτύων όπως το Federation of Music Conferences (FoMC) και το Music Tech Europe Association, καθώς και πρωτοβουλιών όπως το SONIC – Interreg Europe, με την υποστήριξη του Ελληνικού Κέντρου Κινηματογράφου, Οπτικοακουστικών Μέσων και Δημιουργίας (ΕΚΚΟΜΕΔ), και σε συνεργασία με φορείς όπως ο AI Pharos, Οργανισμός Πνευματικής Ιδιοκτησίας (ΟΠΙ) και άλλους εκπροσώπους του εγχώριου μουσικού οικοσυστήματος, το συνεδριακό πρόγραμμα ανοίγει τον διάλογο γύρω από το παρόν και το μέλλον του κλάδου σε εθνικό, περιφερειακό και ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο.

Με αυτόν τον γνώμονα, το Athens Music Week συνεργάζεται φέτος με το Goethe-Institut Athen, ενισχύοντας τη διεθνή διάσταση της διοργάνωσης και δημιουργώντας ένα ουσιαστικό πλαίσιο διασύνδεσης μεταξύ της ελληνικής και της γερμανικής μουσικής και δημιουργικής σκηνής. Μέσα από αυτή τη σύμπραξη αναδεικνύονται σύγχρονα ζητήματα όπως η διαφορετικότητα, η ψηφιακή πολιτιστική παραγωγή και η ευρωπαϊκή συνεργασία. Για τον λόγο αυτό, το Goethe-Institut Athen θα αποτελέσει τον χώρο του συνεδριακού προγράμματος, ενώ παράλληλες εκδηλώσεις και συναυλίες θα πραγματοποιηθούν σε επιλεγμένους χώρους της πόλης.

Όπως κάθε χρόνο, στο επίκεντρο του Athens Music Week βρίσκεται η ίδια η μουσική και η εμπειρία της. Το AMW διαμορφώνει έναν ανοιχτό και δυναμικό χώρο συνάντησης, όπου καλλιτέχνες, επαγγελματίες, φορείς χάραξης πολιτικής, επιχειρηματίες, αλλά και το κοινό και οι μουσικόφιλοι της πόλης, συνδέονται, ανταλλάσσουν ιδέες και εμπειρίες και δημιουργούν νέες συνεργασίες. Μέσα από αυτή τη ζωντανή κοινότητα, το AMW ενισχύει τη διάδραση, τη γνώση και τη δημιουργική ανταλλαγή, φέρνοντας πιο κοντά διαφορετικές πλευρές του μουσικού οικοσυστήματος.

Για φέτος, οι πρώτες ανακοινώσεις περιλαμβάνουν καλλιτέχνες όπως η ελληνικής καταγωγής Melina (GR/FR), που κινείται ανάμεσα στην κινηματογραφική pop και τις μεσογειακές επιρροές, οι The Dionysians με το ελληνόφωνο garage rock τους, και ο Lefty, μια από τις ανερχόμενες φωνές της σύγχρονης urban σκηνής, καθώς και διεθνείς συμμετοχές, όπως οι 505 (IT/DE), ένα Berlin based duo που κινείται ανάμεσα σε electronica, jazz και trip hop, οι Lucy Dreams (AT) που συνδυάζουν dreampop και synth driven electronica, και οι Foehn (FR) με μια σύγχρονη προσέγγιση στο electronic jazz.

Στο συνεδριακό μέρος, ανάμεσα στους ομιλητές του φετινού προγράμματος θα βρίσκονται ο διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένος τραγουδοποιός Jack Savoretti (UK), ο Pan Pan, comic artist, illustrator και μουσικός που συνδυάζει αφήγηση, εικόνα και ήχο, ο DJ και παραγωγός Autow Nite Superstore, ο Oliver Czeslik (DE), σεναριογράφος και παραγωγός που γεφυρώνει τον κινηματογράφο με το immersive storytelling και τη δημιουργία XR και VR εμπειριών, καθώς και ο Christian Cleret (FR), με πολυετή εμπειρία στη διοργάνωση φεστιβάλ και τη διεθνή ανάπτυξη καλλιτεχνών.

Held between Sassari and Alghero, the initiative brings together workshops, showcases, and discussions exploring how tradition, sustainability, and new technologies are reshaping the live music experience. Organised by Carta da Musica and Le Ragazze Terribili with the artistic direction of Barbara Vargiu and curatorship of Federica Ceppa, the programme features contributions from Assomusica, regional partners, and European professionals from Greece, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, and the Baltic countries.

Beyond its local impact, Sardinia Music Hub stands as part of a wider regional network MESO continues to strengthen, alongside initiatives such as Ato JazZ in Sofia, MMB in Bucharest, So Alive Music Conference, and the Sicilia Music Conference. Each of these touchpoints contributes to a common purpose: to build a connected and innovative live music ecosystem across Southern and Eastern Europe.

From Sardinia to Athens, every partnership and encounter adds another piece to this shared roadmap, one that connects people, strengthens markets, and celebrates the diversity and creativity of the Mediterranean.

From October 14 to 17, the journey continues in Sofia for the So Alive Music Conference (SAMC) — one of the dynamic professional gatherings for the music industry in the Balkans.

The conference brings together artists, managers, promoters, and entrepreneurs from across the Balkans and beyond, following the same regional approach as Mastering the Music Business (MMB) in Bucharest. Both events strengthen the links between Southeast and Central European markets, supporting the exchange of experience, mobility, and professional cooperation.

Following the Athens Music Week 2025 initiative and MESO’s recent participation in Mastering the Music Business, this step continues the effort to build stronger ties between Greece, Romania, and Bulgaria — two countries that have just entered the Schengen zone, opening new opportunities for touring and creative mobility in the region.

This year, a Greek and Cypriot delegation will join SAMC, participating in discussions, showcases, and networking sessions designed to connect creativity and entrepreneurship.
The delegation includes professionals Andreas Trachonitis, Georges Perot, Lia Mansola, and Lefteris Moumtzis, together with artists Labaf, Elena Leoni, and Alexa Michael.

We will take part in panels, B2B sessions, and the CEE Mixer (October 15 | 14:00 | Kino Kabana), a regional networking format designed to foster direct collaboration between professionals from Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe.

To facilitate participation and strengthen regional exchange, Greek professionals are offered a 50% discount on SAMC passes. This initiative aims to encourage more artists and entrepreneurs from Greece and Cyprus to join the conversation and expand their networks.

After the project’s official launch in Groningen, the discussion now continues in Athens, where the SONIC initiative brings together local stakeholders and cultural partners to explore new pathways for music policy and innovation.
SONIC – Strategic Opportunities for New Innovative Changes in Music Policies is a European initiative on cultural policy and music innovation, co-funded by the INTERREG EUROPE programme.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 7, at Innovathens / Technopolis City of Athens, bringing together key public and private stakeholders shaping Greece’s music and creative ecosystem, including representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Technopolis City of Athens, ACE-IN (Athens University of Economics & Business), EDEM Rights, Orfium, Action Esti, Crates, Fuzz Productions, The Factory Music Group, TMR Entertainment, and MESO Events.

Throughout the session, participants will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Athens music ecosystem, identify strategic pathways for collaboration, and outline first steps toward the creation of a Music Policy Cluster based approach in Athens.

This informal cluster will serve as a long-term framework, linking research, policy, and entrepreneurship, while connecting local actors to European networks supporting innovation and SME competitiveness in the music sector.

The SONIC Kick-Off follows the recent Music Tech Europe Athens Meet-Up, where MESO and partners — Orfium, Panathēnea, and Technopolis City of Athens — brought together startups, artists, and entrepreneurs to explore bottom-up opportunities for creative and technological innovation.

With SONIC, this momentum now expands from community to policy, laying the groundwork for sustained cooperation between institutions, academia, and creative professionals.

Over the coming months, the project will foster preliminary dialogues among Greek stakeholders, mapping strengths, needs, and synergies to develop a shared vision for the future of the music industry.

As these efforts evolve, SONIC will help shape a coordinated approach that combines bottom-up energy with top-down policy development, ensuring that Greece – and Athens in particular – becomes a reference point for music innovation, education, and cultural entrepreneurship in Europe.

The journey starts in Groningen with the launch of SONIC, an Interreg initiative on Strategic Opportunities for New Innovation in Cultural Policy in which Technopolis City of Athens is also a partner. Here, cultural operators and policy experts come together to explore how regional music ecosystems can be better supported through forward-looking public policies, cross-border collaboration, and cultural innovation. This conversation is vital for ensuring that local voices and communities have a place in the wider European debate.

A few days later in Berlin, Music Frontiers will bring together visionaries working at the intersection of music, technology, and creativity. Pantelis Vikatos from Orfium and Chris Hocking will join this new initiative organised by MusicTech Germany, one of our Music Tech Europe partners. The discussions will focus on how music and technology are reshaping value chains, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs, and linking innovation with long-term sustainability. For us, this is also a chance to share perspectives from Greece and the wider region with the European music-tech community.

The month continues in Bucharest, where Athens Music Week deepens its collaboration with Mastering the Music Business and So Alive Music Conference. This partnership, initiated earlier this year in Athens, strengthens ties between the three capitals of Athens, Bucharest, and Sofia. Georges Perot and Chris Bekiris (aka Bhukhurah) will represent Greece in the panel “The New Schengen Route: Opening Doors for Business in the Balkans,” examining how the expansion of Schengen will transform artist mobility, touring, and festival cooperation. Bhukhurah will also perform in the official showcase, bringing the creativity and diversity of the Greek scene to an international stage. As part of this collaboration, Greek professionals attending MMB will benefit from a reduced participation fee, a practical step to encourage exchange and professional networking across borders.

Looking ahead, this momentum extends to the Music Tech Europe Academy, which opens its new call for applications on September 8. The programme offers deep sector expertise, a vibrant European community of innovators, and opportunities for entrepreneurs to present their work in pitch sessions that can lead to new collaborations and deals. It is an important pathway for music-tech projects and professionals ready to grow internationally.

Together, these activities are not isolated moments but connected steps in a broader effort to create a stronger, more resilient, and more connected music ecosystem in Europe. They illustrate how local initiatives can scale through regional partnerships, how creative entrepreneurs can access international networks, and how cultural cooperation can inspire sustainable change.
