The Europe in Synch Academy Workshop: Music in Film & TV

A day-long session brings together professionals from the Music Side and the world of Filmmaking to learn about the respective “other side”.

Experts from the “Film-side” will present insights to their work.

The workshop shall enable the participants to truly understand where and how music comes into the picture.

Agenda:

• The Music Side & The Film Side: Structures, processes and supporting the directorial vision
• The role of composed and licensed music
• Roles involved: Directors, Composers, Production Companies, Music Supervisors
• Mutual understanding and communication
• The way of music into a film: creation and decisions, opinions and input, the licensing.
• Supervisors/music agents: the in-betweens
• The Big “R”: Rights are your friend!

Closed session with limited number of participants. Synch experience and active participation required.

Beats Pliz aka Fotis Georgiadis is one of the most talented and accomplished music producers and film directors of the Greek new era. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the Greek rap scene (Bloody Hawk, Dani Gambino, Ethismos, Hawk, Lex, Light, Mikros Kleftis, Sadam, Vlospa, Wang etc).
During the period 2022- 2023, Beatz Pliz created the music album “Arte Povera”. He composed original classical music played by symphonic orchestras, in which a few of the most esteemed rappers rapped upon. Meanwhile, he directed “Arte Povera- The Documentary”, a documentary which depicts the whole process of creating the music album.

The outstanding music album released by Minos EMI, a Universal Music Company, peaked in #5 in Spotify’s Top10 Albums Debut Global, while “Arte Povera – The Documentary” was announced as the #1 music documentary in the Greek box office -in less than a month.

Evangelia Vagena (GR)

Evangelia Vagena, currently serving as a Senior Director of Compliance at ORFIUM, is a lawyer specializing in compliance and information technology law with a focus on copyright law, personal data protection, data management and cybersecurity. She served as a legal counselor of the Hellenic Copyright Organization (OPI) of the Ministry of Culture for 13 years and became its Director in 2019 for a three-year term actively contributing to the implementation of key EU legal directives in Greece, including the Digital Single Market (DSM) copyright directive. She has been an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) since 2018 and a lecturer in Postgraduate studies at the University of Piraeus since 2017.

She is the Vice President of the Hellenic Association of Data Protection & Privacy (HADPP), and an elected member of the Administrative Council of the Greek branch of the International Literary and Artistic Association (ALAI) since 2015 and a member of the coordination team of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Women Hellas Justice cluster.

She has published in Greek the book «The technological protection and the digital management of Copyright» and many chapters in collective works as well as papers in academic journals. She earned her Ph.D. from the Law School of the University of Athens (Greece), specializing in Digital Copyright Management and Protection, and holds a Master’s degree (DEA) in Law and Information Technology from the University of Montpellier (France).

Prior to Orfium, he was at Endeavor Greece, supporting some of the best Greek-led tech scale-ups like Blueground, Workable, Softomotive, Orfium, Pollfish, Hellas Direct, Matternet and others. He is the founder and organiser of Product 360, an event series around Product management & leadership. Last but not least he has been mentoring and advising many early stage startups.

Elias Aslanoglou (GR)

Elias Aslanoglou has been working in the Entertainment Industry in Greece since 1982.

He worked for Happening Record Shop, Eros Music, Sony Music, Heaven & Spicy Music.

He is currently running Rockarolla Records as MD, distributing physical music carriers produced by independent record labels, distribution companies and artists of abroad in Greece.

He`s also representative of an English record company, active in buy outs of intellectual rights of Greek composers and authors.

As an artist, Elias has been singer, performer and frontman of the rock bands Magic de Spell (1982-1997) & Alice In A Nightmare and singer-lyricist of electronica music project Allou. He currently sings with the band Yeah!.

George Myzalis (GR)

George Myzalis was born in Athens in 1978. From a very young age he was enchanted by Greek songwriting and music following all possible levels of musical education: guitar lessons, conservatory, music high school, Department of Music Studies at the University of Athens, postgraduate at M.M.E and Music and finally a doctorate in Ethnomusicology. At the same time, he wrote articles for music sites and print media, while he also had a brief stint in discography as Promo Associate of the Greek repertoire (1999 – 2000) at Virgin Records of Yiannis Petridis. He worked for many years (2006-2018) in Copyright, being the director of the Greek Music Archive of AEPI. He was also Business Affairs Account Manager at ORFIUM (2020 – 2023) and currently COO at Edem Rights. He has written a book on “Political song in Greece (1974 – 2002), while he maintains a music show on YouTube entitled “Tha peis ki ena tragoudi?”.

Additionally, he is the Co-Founder of Legal Pizza, an Athens-based media/entertainment company focused on talk shows and podcasts dedicated to youth culture.

He started is career in the music industry in the year 2012 by doing an apprenticeship in the local Hamburg music club KNUST. After finishing in 2014 he continued to work in local music clubs as well as being a freelancer for German music festivals and corporate events. In 2015 he started studying at the University of Hamburg by a bachelor’s degree in social economics followed up by a master’s degree in International Business and Sustainability. After several editions of Reeperbahn Festival as freelancer he began working for the festival in 2019. At the moment he is a Senior Manager in the Sales & Partnerships department.
