Women Power in Comics (WOMCOM) invites you to the opening of its travelling exhibition. <\/p>
Organised in collaboration with WOMCOM\u2019s partners, the exhibition features comics created in Serbia and Hungary during the first two residencies of the programme. Under the mentorship of renowned female comic artists, comic authors and illustrators from Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Hungary, Greece, and Slovenia have created works that explore gender-related themes in the field of comics. <\/p>

Currently serving as the Head of Communication at the Athens Biennale, she also brings her expertise to roles as a Communication Specialist at PostScriptum, Archipelago Network, and the Athens Digital Arts Festival. Her diverse portfolio includes contributions to numerous art exhibitions, music events, and cultural projects, showcasing her strategic skills in amplifying engagement and dialogue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2011, she co-founded the influential online radio station TrollRadio.gr. Maria holds a BA in Communication & Media Studies and an MA in Music, Culture & Communication from the University of Athens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yana Adamovic is a comic book author and illustrator from Belgrade, Serbia. Her comics are published in Europe and the U.S.A. For her personal work she finds inspiration in important social subjects like the refugee crisis, climate crisis, women\u2019s rights, etc. as well as autofiction. Next to her artistic work, she is active in promoting the visibility of women in the field of comics. She is the author of \u00ab Ona se Budi \/ BD \u00e9galit\u00e9 \u00bb, a group exhibition that featured over 50 female artists from Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia and France (2018). <\/p>\n\n\n\n This year, she co-founded a collective of women comic artists in Serbia named Comic-Aunties, whose mission is to encourage the creation of original comics by young artists, male and female alike, as well boost visibility of female comic artists in Serbia. In 2019, she was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the Republic of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n M\u00e1rta Ladj\u00e1nszki is the motor of L1 Independent Artists Association of Public Utility, an umbrella NGO for independent creators, performing artists. As an active choreographer and dancer, her focus is mainly on the dance field and she works together with Zsolt VARGA (saxophonist, composer). M\u00e1rta established the 'Series of dance performances with\/for naked spectators' a successful event-series which was hosted by Bakelit Multi Art Center, based in Budapest (H). <\/p>\n\n\n\n After 20 years of artistic cooperation, M\u00e1rta became the project manager of two Culture Europe partnerships on behalf of Bakelit MAC: Be SpectACTive! and Women Power in Comics. She is excited to learn more about the freelance creative sector either by setting up a new dance piece, mentoring artists, curating a program or being project manager of such projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Learn more about her and the activities she is involved with: <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mateja Pribani\u0107 - Born in 1992 in Zagreb, in 2013 she enrolled in the study of philosophy and religious studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus. Surrounded by a feminist worldview, but without specific education, she enrolled in the educational program of the Center for Women's Studies in 2016, and in 2017 she completed her undergraduate studies with a thesis on Feminist Theology. Although she gained most of her work experience as the barista, her long-term volunteer collaboration with civil society organizations acquainted her with logistical, financial, and administrative processes, as well as the organization of public events, including a four-year collaboration with the Zagreb Pride team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2021, she became an employee of the Autonomous Cultural Center Attack! as a program coordinator, including production within projects such as SubScena, Festival of Alternative Theatre Expression and Ohoho festival of DiY underground comics and street art. She also works part-time as a Logistics Manager for UK music festivals Outlook Origins, Dimensions Festival, and Hospitality on the Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sanja Burlovi\u0107, born in Rijeka, Croatia, is a producer, organizer, activist in the field of cultural policies, human rights and ex squatter. She studied at the University of Zagreb - humanistic science. Taking on the role of Program Coordinator at Attack since 2001, she has shown her commitment and expertise in the organization of various events (theatre festivals, music programs, creative industries, visual arts productions). <\/p>\n\n\n\n She is the coordinator of the association now, where she is responsible for the development of programs such as education, visual arts, public actions, inclusive cultural and social programs. Her extensive career and diverse experience testify to her deep involvement in the independent cultural and arts sector, as well as her influence on various aspects of cultural life and activism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
