This session offers a practical introduction to what is available and how to approach it, helping participants identify which opportunities make sense for their stage and what they are trying to develop.<\/p>
It looks at how funding works in practice, from travel and international collaboration to project development, partnerships and cross-sector work. What these programmes are there to support, what they expect in return, and how to approach them in a realistic and achievable way.<\/p>
Designed for artists, collectives and emerging professionals, it offers a clearer starting point for turning ideas into funded activity and connecting with opportunities across Europe.<\/p>

Born in Germany, Marc-Andr\u00e9 Schmachtel studied in Saarbr\u00fccken and Qu\u00e9bec\/Canada. He has been active for several film festivals in Germany and is working since 2008 for the Goethe-Institut, first in Cameroon, then as head of Goethe-Institut Nigeria. He initiated several projects in the film, theatre, music and fine arts sector, both on a national and international level. In 2016 he was posted to the headquarters in Munich and was in charge for TV and radio cooperation, focusing amongst other on the artistic dimension of radio-making. As consultant to the head of Culture Department he was in charge of the support programs to Ukrainian artists after the Russian invasion and took over the position of artistic director at the project space \u201cGoethe-Institut in Exile\u201d in Berlin, organizing large festivals with Belarusian, Afghan and Iranian exile diasporas. In 2024 he has been posted to Athens as regional head of cultural programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has also been certified as a trainer of adult non-formal education and for designing and teaching online courses from Rutgers University. Her work focuses on making complex ideas accessible and shaping human-centred, innovative responses to today\u2019s societal challenges through culture-led approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alongside her work as an EU project manager, she is also a DJ and music producer, bringing an insider\u2019s perspective into the realities of the music ecosystem. She is co-Director of HER Project and shesaid.so Athens, actively advocating for gender equity and more inclusive structures within the music industry.
