Each member lends their own experience in punk, kraut rock, math rock, jazz and pop to the others, and combined they create dancing music on the edge of these genres. After meeting at Prince Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands, founding members Dimitris Koulentianos (bass) and Dimitris Kalamaras (guitar) experimented with different constellations of collaborators, culminating in a string of wild concerts and the release of hard jazz album “First Sessions” (Polyscope, 2019).

Due to personal and global circumstances, the duo decided to return to Athens and change direction. The need for connection with the audience was greater than ever, and led them to focus on grooves and melodies that could take people to a state of ecstasy. Enlisting improviser Chris Scott (vocals, guitar) and a succession of talented drummers, they began to shape their new sound over the next two years, culminating in their second album, “On Patrol” (Pestus Studio Records, 2023). Hometown hero Jason Wastor joined behind the kit in 2024.

The group’s self-produced videos caught the attention of Australian power-sextet King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, who asked them to open their two summer shows in Athens. On the strength of these performances, Amka was booked at festivals and venues around Greece, and soon made a name for themselves as one of the most exciting groups on the Greek scene. They will embark on their first European tour in May 2024.

Με το “Cool Kids Never Die” του 2016 να έχει σημαδέψει μια ολόκληρη γενιά εφήβων, “Το Χάρτινο Βασίλειο” του 2019, ως μία πολυδιάστατη ροκ όπερα, να τον βρίσκει σε μία βαθιά σκεπτόμενη διαδικασία, διαφοροποίησης και πειραματισμού, και το πιο πρόσφατο “Τα Λέμε Στην Κόλαση” να κάνει μια βουτιά και πάλι στις emo ρίζες του, ο Solmeister μοιάζει να βρίσκεται σε παροξυσμό έμπνευσης και δημιουργίας.

Πέραν των δικών του μουσικών εξορμήσεων, ο Solmeister συνυπογράφει στιχουργικά, μουσικά και σε επίπεδο παραγωγής τα τραγούδια του WNCfam, και της ανερχόμενης pop star Marseaux, που φέτος κυκλοφορέι τον δεύτερο σε σειρά προσωπικό της δίσκο, με τίτλο “Chica”, συνοδεύοντάς τον ταυτόχρονα σε μέρος των καλοκαιρινών εμφανίσεών του, μαζί με το υπόλοιπο crew.

OCEANDVST’s journey begins in the middle of 2017 in Thessaloniki, Greece. They burst onto the scene with their self-released ep called “Escape Rovte” and they started gaining a remarkable fan base from their very beginning. The release of “Escape Rovte” was followed by two music videos and one lyric video which became unexpectedly popular in a very short time, while in 2019 was released the single “Isn’t Love Supposed to Be a Good Thing?” which marked the end of a big chapter. At the end of 2019, the band moved on in a new era with a fresh line-up and more determined than ever to turn their goals and dreams into reality! This new era begins with the release of the single “Nightmare (Halsey cover)”, which reached the number 1 song for four weeks straight on 1055 rock radio. 

Their sound varies between rock, punk and alternative sounds with bands like My Chemical Romance, Tonight Alive, Sum 41, Halsey, and Paramore being some of their influences. What characterizes them the most is their charismatic singer with her warm and colorful voice and the emotional intensity of their songs. Their live shows combine the storytelling of deeply personal stories with a punk-based attitude, which instantly puts the audience into the band’s shoes.
