Black Athena are a DJ duo, a radio show and more recently a record label, conceived in and around the centre of Athens during the first decade of the millennium. The Black Athena philosophy is as much about the local as it is about the global. In an underground music field that increasingly is about A&Ring music directly from the internet and creating labels spearheaded by artists already accepted as “cool”, Black Athena is all about having a personal ‘real’ connection with the artists, helping develop them and putting them on a global stage. In a country that has been plagued by uncertainty and financial instability, Black Athena believe that it is paramount to put young people at the forefront and help them succeed through their creativity and love for music. Their recipe is the same across all the media they work with: black music, past present and future. The sound of Black Athena is as much about the sound of contemporary US rap as expressed by Kendrick Lamar, Drake and A$ap Rocky, as it is about the Deep House blueprint of Moodymann and Theo Parrish. It is as much about Wiley, Skepta and D Double E as it is about Prince, Marvin Gaye, Prince Jammy & Chic. Saying that they wouldn’t even have second thoughts about releasing or playing an unheard 1970s Synth record, or an 80s New Wave band. Music is music, and they love good music!

Solmeister (GR)

Ο αιώνιος έφηβος Solmeister επιστρέφει, στην πιο γόνιμη φάση της μέχρι στιγμής πορείας του.

Με το “Cool Kids Never Die” του 2016 να έχει σημαδέψει μια ολόκληρη γενιά εφήβων, “Το Χάρτινο Βασίλειο” του 2019, ως μία πολυδιάστατη ροκ όπερα, να τον βρίσκει σε μία βαθιά σκεπτόμενη διαδικασία, διαφοροποίησης και πειραματισμού, και το πιο πρόσφατο “Τα Λέμε Στην Κόλαση” να κάνει μια βουτιά και πάλι στις emo ρίζες του, ο Solmeister μοιάζει να βρίσκεται σε παροξυσμό έμπνευσης και δημιουργίας.

Πέραν των δικών του μουσικών εξορμήσεων, ο Solmeister συνυπογράφει στιχουργικά, μουσικά και σε επίπεδο παραγωγής τα τραγούδια του WNCfam, και της ανερχόμενης pop star Marseaux, που φέτος κυκλοφορέι τον δεύτερο σε σειρά προσωπικό της δίσκο, με τίτλο “Chica”, συνοδεύοντάς τον ταυτόχρονα σε μέρος των καλοκαιρινών εμφανίσεών του, μαζί με το υπόλοιπο crew.

DPBD (TR)

Barış Demirel started performing in 2011 under the name of Barıştık Mı. He released two albums with his band. First album T.E.A.R. was released in 2015 and their second album FAIL PLAY was released in 2018. Since then, he’s been a regular performer at local and international jazz festivals in Holland, Germany, Belgium, England, Switzerland. In 2019 he was invited to perform at Montreux Jazz Festival. He also frequently collaborates with different artists from different genres such as hip hop, rap, jazz, pop and electronic.

The other half of DPBD is Da Poet who is one of the most successful and productive MCs in Turkey. He is a producer, beatmaker and a rapper. After releasing multiple albums and collaborations he and Barış Demirel got together and started the DPBD project which flows between rap, hip hop, funk, lo-fi and dub. This unique collaboration between a rapper and a trumpet player is one tasteful musical event!

Saske (GR)

Odysseas Ntzimanis, a Greek rapper, and lyricist better known by his stage name Saske, is one of the founding members of OffBeat Records. He was born April 14th, 1998 in Chrysoupolis, Kavala and is now living in Athens, Greece.

He started his career as a rapper in September 2014 with the release of some promo tracks. In August 2015 he released his first full-length remix-tape “I Made It: The RMX-Tape”. After that, he released several singles on his YouTube channel. In December 2016, along with Sapranov, member of Above The Hood, and iLLEOo, they created GOD$QUAD, a group of rappers, producers and graphic designers who released several singles. In November 2017 he released his first official single with OffBeat Records, Safari, which became viral.

His greatest singles Cyan, Ksero Mana, GOGO, NANA, and Xorepse Mazi Mou have amassed millions of views on YouTube and streams on Spotify with an impressive amount of positive reviews. His debut and now golden album Saskepticism Vol. 1 released back in 2019.
