What took place this year felt bigger than a conference, a showcase festival or a professional gathering alone. It felt like a growing community coming together around music, creativity, innovation and collaboration, connecting Greece, Southeast Europe and the wider international ecosystem.

Over four days, Athens welcomed more than 1,000 delegates, 196 speakers and 30 artists, alongside countless meetings, discussions, showcases, workshops, networking moments and spontaneous encounters that reminded us why spaces like this matter.

Yet beyond the numbers, what stays with us most are the conversations. The new friendships. The exchange of ideas. The opportunities created. The projects imagined. The partnerships initiated. The sense that something meaningful is gradually taking shape together.

For us, Athens Music Week has always been about much more than stages, panels or showcases. It is about building bridges. Between people, sectors, regions and disciplines. Between creativity and innovation. Between local realities and international opportunities.

What started eight years ago as a simple but ambitious idea continues to evolve into an open platform where music connects people, cultures, technologies and new possibilities. A place where emerging talent, established professionals, entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers and creators can meet on equal ground and imagine new ways forward.

This year marked an important milestone for Athens Music Week. For the first time, the event welcomed more than 1,000 delegates, reaching 1,060 participants from across Greece and many parts of Europe and beyond. More importantly, it reinforced our belief that there is both a need and a desire for stronger connections across our region and our industries.

As we continue reflecting on this edition, we would simply like to thank everyone who contributed to making it possible. Artists, speakers, delegates, partners, volunteers, venues, supporters, sponsors, institutions and friends. Every conversation, contribution and act of support helped shape the experience.

Most of all, we hope that the encounters and ideas born during Athens Music Week 2026 do not remain memories alone, but continue to grow into collaborations, opportunities, projects and long lasting relationships.

The AMW 2026 programme spans a wide range of themes, from music technology and the evolving music ecosystem to electronic music and education, creating a unified space for dialogue and exchange. Speakers such as Gérôme Vanherf, Co-Founder and CEO of ikii.studio, Anna Zo, President of Music Tech Europe, and Oliver Czeslik, the award-winning creator, writer and producer of XR experiences, will introduce fresh perspectives on creativity, technology and the role of AI in music and the creative industries. At the same time, Robert Meijerink, Head of Booking at Eurosonic Noorderslag, Ruth Koleva (SoAlive Music Conference), and Dino Lupelli (Federation of Music Conferences) share insights from leading European showcase festivals. Niko Michault (PUSH Management) and Christian Cleret (Dionysiac Tours), both with extensive experience in international artist development and festival strategy, open the discussion around the relationship between creativity, the market and global networking.

AMW 2026 also explores the music ecosystem at a national level, bringing forward key figures from the Greek industry such as Panagiotis Loulourgas (Panik Records), Manos Dedevessis (Stay Independent) and Andreas Mitrelis (Veego Records), who discuss developments in the recording industry, independent production and emerging market dynamics. Artists themselves take centre stage, with insights from Jack Savoretti, Tamta, Pan Pan and Vassilina, sharing their experiences and practices around contemporary artistic creation, authenticity, resilience and their journeys across local and international scenes.

Producers and creators such as Beyond, BeTaf, Baghdad, Gus and Papatanice, alongside emerging artists of the new generation including GXHAN and TSO, highlight current trends within the Greek scene and the diverse pathways of artistic development. This year also features listening sessions connected to Building Balkan Bridges, the first international songwriting camp organised in Greece, alongside workshops covering topics such as music production, video creation and fanbase development. Spotify participates with a dedicated masterclass on promoting music beyond borders, connecting creators from across the region and strengthening links between local scenes.

Experience the festival

As the conference programme concludes each day, Athens Music Week moves into the city’s nightlife, presenting 30 showcase events, concerts and DJ sets across selected venues.The live programme features artists from Greece and abroad, including Melina (GR/FR) with her cinematic pop approach, The Dionysians with their Greek-language garage rock sound, Lefty from the contemporary urban scene, as well as IOTA with their nu jazz influences and Rosadenia with a modern alternative pop aesthetic. International acts such as Lucy Dreams (AT), integrating AI into their artistic practice, Foehn (FR) with their atmospheric and cinematic sound, and 505 (IT/DE), present different expressions of contemporary electronic and hybrid music on stage. The lineup is further complemented by Greek artists representing diverse facets of the local scene.

The programme also includes special events such as the collaboration with Yannis Veslemes, who revisits the iconic film “The Lazy Ones of the Fertile Valley” by Nikos Panagiotopoulos, composing a new alternative soundtrack live on stage. Also presented is the collaboration with KIKI Music Group, featuring a dynamic label showcase at the new Klakaz venue with Tamta and label artists VASSIŁINA, Tso, Lou and V4L, representing the contemporary Greek pop and alternative scene. On Friday, a collaboration with the Reflected team presents a night dedicated to experimentation, improvisation and the live energy of electronic music at Plex, featuring artists such as Autow Nite Superstore, Fragk and Degear0001. The event stands out as a curated experience exploring current trends in club culture and showcasing the evolving dynamics of electronic music.

Athens Music Week 2026 is supported by SONIC Interreg Europe and the Music Tech Europe Academy, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, as well as the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (EKKOMEΔ), and is organised in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Athens.

Over four days, AMW brings together conferences, workshops, networking events and showcase concerts, creating a dynamic environment where ideas meet practice and new collaborations take shape. With more than 180 guest speakers invited and 30 artists from Greece and abroad, the event continues to evolve as a platform where music, culture and innovation intersect.

This year’s edition focuses on the transformation of music ecosystems across Europe and beyond, exploring how creativity, technology and community are reshaping the way music is created, shared and experienced. From digital transformation and new creative tools to evolving models of artist development, education and live performance, AMW highlights music not only as an art form, but as a driver of innovation, collaboration and growth.

The conference programme is developed in collaboration with key European networks such as the Federation of Music Conferences (FoMC) and the Music Tech Europe Association, alongside initiatives like SONIC Interreg Europe. With the support of the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center Creative Greece (EKKOMED), and in partnership with organisations including AI Pharos and the Hellenic Copyright Organization (OPI), AMW opens a dialogue around the future of the sector at national, regional and European level.

A key highlight of this year’s edition is the collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Athens, strengthening the connection between the Greek and German creative scenes and reinforcing the international outlook of the event. The Goethe-Institut will host the core conference programme, while parallel events and live showcases will take place across selected venues in the city

At its core, AMW remains about music and the people behind it. It is a space where artists, professionals, policymakers, entrepreneurs and audiences meet on equal ground, discovering new sounds, exchanging ideas and building meaningful connections. This shared experience continues to shape AMW as a living and evolving community.

The first wave of artists includes Melina (GR/FR), blending cinematic pop with Mediterranean influences, The Dionysians with their Greek language garage rock sound, and Lefty, one of the emerging voices of Greece’s contemporary urban scene. International acts include 505 (IT/DE), a Berlin based duo moving between electronica, jazz and trip hop, Lucy Dreams (AT), combining dreampop and synth driven electronica, and Foehn (FR) with a contemporary approach to electronic jazz.

On the conference side, confirmed speakers include internationally acclaimed singer songwriter Jack Savoretti (UK), Pan Pan, a multidisciplinary creator working across comics, illustration and music, Autow Nite Superstore, electronic music producer and DJ, Oliver Czeslik (DE), a screenwriter and producer working at the intersection of cinema and immersive storytelling through XR and VR experiences, and Christian Cleret (FR), a leading figure in festival development and international artist mobility.

More artists, speakers and programme highlights will be announced in the coming weeks, with updates published daily on the official Athens Music Week website. The full programme will be released in early April.

Athens Music Week (AMW) returns for its 8th consecutive edition from 6 to 9 May 2026, bringing together artists, creative professionals and music lovers for four days of concerts, discussions, workshops and networking activities across the city of Athens.

AMW has become a meeting point for artists who want to take the next step in their career. The showcase programme is designed to help creators connect with the people who matter: talent buyers, festival programmers, managers, A&Rs, promoters and industry professionals from Greece, the Balkans and the wider European scene.

Every year, the Open Call marks the beginning of this journey. The showcases remain at the heart of AMW, offering emerging artists the chance to perform in a professional setting, gain visibility and build meaningful relationships that can lead to future bookings and cross-border collaborations.

The selection of showcasing artists is curated by the AMW Artistic Board, composed of experienced professionals from both the domestic and international music industry. Their input ensures a dynamic programme that highlights artistic identity, originality and live potential.

Artistic Board 2026

More specifically, the Artistic Board includes representatives from both the domestic and international music markets.
From the domestic scene, participants include: Andreas Periklis Metaxas, Marketing Director at Stay Independent; Michalis Kamakas, Radio Producer at Kosmos 93.6; Theodora Karakassi, co-organiser of the Athens-based Plisskën Festival; Aggelos Kleitsikas, journalist and member of the Athens Jazz Festival team; and Elli Bornova, cultural programmer at Romantso.

From the international music market, participants include: Cosmin Ionescu (RO), Head of Over Ground and key member of the Mastering the Music Business conference; Ruth Koleva (BG), Founder and CEO of the So Alive Music Conference in Sofia; Dino Lupelli (IT), Director of Music Innovation Hub and Founder of Linecheck Music Meeting & Festival; Lisa Nasta (UK), Coordinator and Production Manager for the Green Futures Field at Glastonbury and Director of Re-Play Music; and Cesar Andion (ES), PR, Talent & Export Specialist for Live Nation Madrid and Head of The Spanish Wave export programme.

How the selection works
All submissions are reviewed by the AMW Artistic Board, a group of experienced curators, bookers and music professionals from Greece, the Balkans and across Europe. Their recommendations help shape the showcase lineup, with a focus on artistic identity, originality and live potential.

What AMW offers
AMW is designed to provide real value to emerging artists: curated industry exposure, direct access to professionals and long-term opportunities linked to our wider ecosystem. Our aim is to offer a platform that leads somewhere, creating visibility, meaningful encounters and follow-up opportunities that extend well beyond the performance.

Selected artists receive:
– A 30-minute showcase slot in front of bookers, curators and industry professionals
– Full provided backline
– Artist accreditation for all days of AMW
– Accommodation for acts traveling from more than 200 km
Participation in the showcase programme is completely free of charge. No application fee. There is also no performance fee or monetary compensation for showcase artists.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the AMW 2026 Showcase Programme, artists must meet the following criteria:
– Solo artists or bands, with all members 18+
– Perform primarily original material (projects based on covers are not eligible)
– For artists from outside the European Union: a valid travel visa allowing performance in Greece
– An active project with recent releases, live videos or concert history
– Ability to perform a 30-minute live showcase
– Availability to perform in Athens between 6–9 May 2026
– All genres and contemporary music styles are welcome

Artists should be open to using AMW as a professional opportunity, including networking and participating in relevant activities.

Open Call runs until 21 December 2025
– Shortlist (40–50 acts) sent to the Artistic Board by end of December 2025

For the first time this year, AMW goes out into the city, with the majority of the conference events taking place at the historic Olympia Hotel, the Karatzas Amphitheatre of the National Bank, ETERON, and the historic Old (Small) Stock Exchange, while the evening concert programme will be hosted in the Kerameikos neighborhood, specifically at AUX Club, Oddity Club, Rektifié, and the ELIART Theater.

With a focus on highlighting Athens’ contemporary creative identity and supporting emerging artists, the 7th Athens Music Week returns with a central theme: the relationship between humans and technology in a rapidly evolving environment. Through inspiring talks, panels, workshops, and interactive experiences, AMW sheds light on key issues concerning those active in the music ecosystem—from developments and the latest trends in the music industry to mental health issues stemming from creative pressure, and from the challenges artists face in their early career steps to the analysis of global cultural phenomena such as K-Pop.

Renowned professionals and representatives from the fields of culture, cultural management, the creative industries, and entrepreneurship—such as Leonidas Christopoulos (CEO of EKKOMED), Prodromos Tsiavos (Head of Digital & Innovation, Onassis Group), Pam Lewis-Rudden (Co-founder & Vice President, Plutonic Group Syncs – UK), Marc-André Schmachtel (Director of Cultural Programs of Goethe-Institut Athens – Regional Institutes of Europe – DE), Finlay Johnson (COO, Association for Electronic Music – UK), and many more—will participate in this year’s AMW and explore the characteristics that make the city an emerging hub of creativity and innovation in the Mediterranean.

Technology

At the heart of this year’s Athens Music Week is digital transformation and technology, with the participation of leading figures from the global music and tech scene. Creators, executives from innovative music startups, tech experts, and artists join forces to highlight the opportunities and challenges brought by new technologies. Among them, Hankyul Yoo (Creative Business Development Lead, Supertone – KO), Iara Dias (Chief Executive Officer, ikkio – FI/BR),and Sakis Triantafyllakis (Director of Operational Excellence, Orfium) will discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming the way music is created, distributed, and monetized.At the same time, Aspa Lekka (Chief Operating Officer, Reydix), Michalis Petychakis (Chief Technology Officer, Dialectica), Andy Sohn (Enterprise Business Development Lead, Supertone – KO), and Anastasia Mavroyianni (Head of Innovation at the Onassis Foundation) will discuss the complex relationship between creativity, technology, and funding, focusing on the challenges in the Cultural and Creative Industries sector.

New creators

Artists from Greece and abroad, such as Elena Leoni, Kareem Kalokoh, Özge Ürer (Turkey), and Blu Fiefer (Lebanon – Mexico), will share personal stories from their journey in the music world, revealing how they overcame difficulties and adapted to changes in the music industry. Additionally, internationally acclaimed artists such as Billy Lockett from the UK and Bashar Murad from Palestine will speak about how they build strong connections with their audience, offering valuable insights and tools for emerging musicians.

Music ecosystem

The music industry can be full of inspiration, creativity, and passion – but it often comes with intense pressure and uncertainty. This year, AMW opens the discussion around the mental health of professionals in the field. The need for a more honest and open dialogue is reflected in the participation of Efthimis Karadimas, founder of Nightfall, who has spoken publicly about his own experience with depression and has founded the initiative Metal Music Against Depression. Within the broader themes exploring the social dimensions of the music ecosystem, the decisive role of artists and music professionals in promoting social responsibility, environmental awareness, and mental well-being will be examined, highlighting the connection of art with activism and the protection of the planet.

Electronic music

At the same time, this year’s event turns its attention to the identity of Athens’ electronic music scene, in collaboration with the international organization AFEM (Association for Electronic Music). With Berlin, Amsterdam, and many other cities having built strong international profiles through their nightlife culture, AMW—through representatives such as Voltnoi Brege and Quetempo from Stegi Radio and Onassis Stegi, DJ and producer K.atou, and Creative Producer and DJ Stathis Kalantzis—brings to the table the discussion of what Athens needs to develop its own distinctive place on the global map of electronic music. Furthermore, the challenges faced by DJs and producers will be addressed by Galya Titukova (Label Manager & Producer, Set About Music – BG), Nafsika Mavromoustakou (DJ & owner of Revolt record store), and Steve Mill (Senior Artist Marketing Manager at Beatport), who will propose strategies and tools enabling new producers and artists to build sustainable and stable careers.

Educational workshops

Educational workshops remain a core part of the event, covering critical topics in the music industry. Lefteris Moumtzis, Vasilis Dokakis, and Anastasia Dimitriadou will explore how artists can turn creative blockages into tools, while Susanna Aleksandra Veldi will focus on the art of vocal improvisation and group creativity, inviting the audience to a participatory circle singing workshop. Additionally, established professionals such as Nikos Stamboulopoulos (director, screenwriter, and Module Leader at SAE Athens) and Alexandros Dimou (co-founder of Mythodia Visuals) will lead a workshop dedicated to creating music videos through AI, mastering, and visual identity. Other workshops on self-promotion strategies, independent career management, music production with limited resources, and using free tools for home music creation will offer valuable knowledge to DIY artists.

Live a unique festival experience!

After the end of the conference programme, the live music action begins!  From early in the evening, Athens Music Week pours into the heart of Kerameikos, particularly the stages of Aux Club, Rektifié, Oddity Club, and ELIART, where 40 unique Greek and International acts will showcase their special music ideas and sonic proposals as part of the Showcase concert programme.

Among them are the multi-talented Elena Leoni, the theatrical Ody Icons, Akylas with his explosive stage presence, the lyrical Kos K, Savina with her experimental sound, the emerging singer-songwriter Danai Nielsen, the talented UK singer-songwriter Billy Lockett, the high-energy quintet Cosmonuts, Jeff Maarawi with his expressive performances, the subversive The BuzzDealers, the unique Moonlight Benjamin with roots in France and Haiti, Divorce From New York from Spain with his alternative electro-jazz sound, the dynamic band The Page of Cups, the multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Bipolia, and dozens more waiting to be discovered!

AMW2025 is organized in partnership with Brainfood Media and the National Bank of Greece, in the context of Panathēnea, with the support of the Federation of Music Conferences (FoMC) and Music Tech Europe Academy (MTEA), an initiative co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union.

Building Bridges

In collaboration with the HEMI Music Hub Programme, we championed collaboration and sustainable development across Europe, connecting vibrant regions from the Baltics to the Balkans. Our participation in pivotal events like MENT Conference and Showcase, in Ljubljana or Linecheck Music Festival and Meeting, in Milan, highlighted cutting-edge music industry trends and innovation, while the A to Jazz Festival, in Sofia, and the PIN Music Conference, in Skopje, underscored our commitment to the thriving Balkan music scene. Moreover, during the Athens Music Week 2024, we hosted european initiatives and networks such as the Music Tech Europe Association, Europe In Sync, IMPALA and Digital Fems, fostering dynamic discussions and enriching the regional and local music ecosystem with their invaluable expertise.

Promoting our HEMI-sphere!

HEMI activities, mentors, partners and experts have played a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between different networks from Central and South Eastern Europe region. One of the highlights during the AMW2024 was the Network Mixer, where HEMI joined forces with the Eastern European Music Academy (EEMA) and the Music Tech Europe Academy (MTEA). This innovative gathering provided attendees with a unique opportunity to discover the initiatives of each network while building meaningful connections and collaborations. Another standout moment was the introduction of “Sync About It,” a groundbreaking project emerging from the HEMI Incubator. As the first initiative dedicated to music synchronization in Central and Eastern Europe, the project, set to launch in Bucharest in early 2025, captivated participants with its journey from concept to securing European grants and its focus on real client briefs. The festival’s energy culminated with electrifying performances by HEMI Music Awards artists Astrid, Freakin’ Disco, and AMKA, who left audiences inspired and showcased the exceptional talent nurtured by HEMI.

Spotlight on the Mediterranean Initiative

Building on our initiative to strengthen dialogue and collaboration among countries of the Mediterranean basin, we partnered with key collaborators from Spain to Türkiye to spotlight regional synergies at several major conferences. At Eurosonic 2024, in Groningen, we actively participated in “The Mediterranean Region: Exploring Music Trade and Collaboration” panel, highlighting opportunities for cross-border partnerships. During the Reeperbahn Festival 2024 in Hamburg, we contributed to the “Mediterranean Wave” session, showcasing the region’s dynamic cultural identity. Additionally, at SHIP Festival in Croatia, we joined the panel discussion “Mediterranean Region: Musical Crossroads,” emphasizing the rich, diverse potential of Mediterranean music as a unifying force.

Tackling Key Industry Challenges

In 2024, we tackled some of the music industry’s most pressing challenges by supporting targeted initiatives and events that drive innovation and sustainability. At Act in Sync Athens, we explored how the music industry can combat climate change and champion sustainability practices. During the annual Fintech 3.0 conference held at the National Bank of Greece, we delved into the transformative impact of financial technologies like blockchain and digital currencies on the music business. During the PsvalueTalks conference in the National Gallery, we highlighted the pivotal role of culture and music in fostering local development and strengthening communities. Additionally, at the Bosphorus Summit in Istanbul, Türkiye, we underscored the music industry’s significance in promoting regional growth and cross-border collaboration.

Music Tech Europe Academy (MTEA)

This year marked significant milestones for our acceleration program as we welcomed the MTEA first cohort of startups in Athens and celebrated the launch of the second cohort in collaboration with the Music Innovation Hub, Technoport.lu, Barcelona Music Tech Hub, Media deals and MESO Events at the Linecheck Music Meeting and Festival. This dynamic event served as a vibrant hub for startups, offering invaluable opportunities to connect with industry leaders, expand their networks, and gear up for active participation in the program, fostering innovation and growth in the music and creative industries.

Empowering Artists and Driving Creative Growth

With our newly formed Artistic Board leading the way, Athens Music Week has become the ultimate meeting point for artists, music creators, and industry professionals. Made up of top-notch experts and creative minds from Greece and across Europe, the board is redefining the event’s showcase and artistic focus. With the creation of its Artistic Board, Athens Music Week aims to elevate the quality of its showcase concerts while fostering closer collaboration between the domestic and international music markets. The goal is to establish AMW as a key springboard for emerging talents and a catalyst for creative opportunities in the region and beyond.

Athens Music Week (AMW) returns for the 7th consecutive year from 7 to 10 May 2025 for a festive four-day event full of music, live concerts, discussions panels, workshops, and many more parallel events spread out in the city center of Athens.

As every year, the countdown for the event begins with the launch of the Open Call for showcases that are an important and integral part of it. Athens Music Week gives the stage to young artists, new bands and music projects from Greece and abroad and from every musical genre to unfold their talent in front of professionals and music experts of the domestic and international market (managers, bookers, promoters, A&Rs etc.), to live a unique experience and explore new and exciting opportunities.

The selection of showcasing artists is carefully curated by an Artistic Board to ensure a dynamic, high-quality program. Experienced professionals from the domestic and international music industry carefully evaluate entries to select those with the greatest potential to perform at AMW.

More specifically, the Artistic Board includes representatives from both the domestic and international music markets. From the domestic scene, participants include: Andreas Periklis Metaxas, Marketing Director of the music company Stay Independent; Antonis Zouganelis, Artistic Director of the Athens Jazz Festival; Argyris Dalavagas, Managing Director and Head Agent of TMR Entertainment; Christos Papanantsidis, Founder of Made of Stone Productions; Evi Choursanidi, Editor-in-Chief of the music site avopolis.gr; Makis Quetempo and Voltnoi Brege, Artistic Directors of Stegi.Radio; Michalis Kamakas, Radio Producer at Kosmos 93.6; Olga Papadopoulou, AMW Artists and Showcase program Coordinator and Theodora Karakassi, co-organiser of the Athens based Plisskën Festival.

From the international music market, participants will include: Andreas Trachonitis (CY), Founder, Producer, and Director of Fengaros Festival, Louvana Records, and Studio Eleven63; Anca Lupes (RO), President of RAW Music and Director of the Mastering the Music Business conference; Cesar Andion (ES), PR, Talent & Export Specialist for Live Nation Madrid and Head of the Export Program at The Spanish Wave Showcase; Dragan Ambrozić (RS), Artistic Director of the Main Stage at the EXIT Festival and the Belgrade Jazz Festival; Lisa Nasta (UK), Coordinator and Production Manager for Green Futures Field at Glastonbury; Oskar Strajn (SI), Booker for ESNS – Eurosonic Noorderslag; and Ruth Koleva (BG), Founder and CEO of the SoAlive music conference in Sofia.

With the establishment of the Artistic Board, AMW aims to enhance the quality of the showcase concerts, which it has been promoting since its inception, and foster stronger relationships and closer collaboration between the domestic and international music markets. The findings of the multi-hour workshop of Europe In Synch were presented, a short time later, at
Innovathens and the public realized the need to establish an organization on the issue of synch in
Greece. The hottest discussion of the day was the one about the role of music videos in the music
industry, while the dialogue around the rise of the Greek urban music scene among its protagonists
also gathered a large number. The finale of the event found the team saying goodbye to the attendees
and renewing the appointment with the public! The finale with the awesome concerts at Gazi View and
Oddity was the culmination of a wonderful, musical four days!

Europe In Synch Academy’s marathon 6-hour workshop was a real experience for the participants, while the rest of the day was filled with interesting presentations from organizations such as Act In Synch, discussions on the crucial role of music in improving the modern world and of course the “Great Listening’, with the excellent speakers giving us the most inspiring version since 2022 which has started as part of the conference program!

The concert menu had it all: original hip-hop program at Gazi View, deep rock night at Arch Club and an eclectic program at Oddity with a top performance by Freedom Candlemaker!
