Between Sky & Sea is an Ambient-Post Rock band from Athens, Greece. The duo was formed during 2018 by the guitarist Marios Christopoulos and the drummer Panagiotis Vrachiolidis.
These two friends begin experimenting with music during high school as a gateway from their reality. Eventually, what was thought to be a high-school temperament turned to be their biggest passion.

The two members have stated that expressing themselves throughout music was the best thing that could happened in their lives. By listening to their music someone could say that it is an existential introspection of life. In more details, they have attended some local gigs and festivals but sadly, they stopped abruptly due to the outburst of COVID-19. During this difficult time, they decided to record and release their first EP ‘’What Matters Most’’.

The Ep reflects the importance of finding what matters most in one’s life and not being afraid of chasing it. It was released at 1st February 2021 and since then it has received favorable feedback from the post rock scene around the world, reaching the top 3 of musicinbelgium.

On October 8th 2021 they released their single ‘’Just A Feeling’’, featuring singer Anastasia Papadopoulou. At the moment, they are eager to start performing their EP live engaging with the audience. On top of that they are composing their new songs which will be featured to their new album, which will be released next year.

linktr.ee

The post Between Sky & Sea (GR) appeared first on Athens Music Week.

Echo Basement with their latest album “No Form Of Human Government” in their “luggage”, bring for the first time after the coronavirus-lockdowns their psychedelic guitar journey, two and a half years after their last live appearance in Athens.

After their debut in 2016 with the LP “Placid”, which received very good reviews and was warmly received by the public at their concerts, Echo Basement created six new compositions, which they recorded at Dudu Loft. Their album “No Form Of Human Government”, released on vinyl by Rudu Records, consists of six tracks, five of which are only orchestral, with clear post-rock references and several progressive and post-metal elements.

Their music is a mix of atmospheric and rhythmic parts, melodic, slow-moving orchestral points, but also outbursts in an experimentation that is still going on. With their clear choice on post-rock tracks and the addition of synths and samples, their participation in AMW 2022 is expected to be a highly mystical experience.

Website | Spotify | Bandcamp | Facebook

The post Echo Basement (GR) appeared first on Athens Music Week.

A pinch of surrealism, talharpa revival and neozombiepostfolk.
Puuluup was formed in 2014 by two enthusiasts Ramo Teder and Marko Veisson. Ramo Teder is an artist, multi-instrumentalist and a looping pioneer in Estonia. Marko Veisson has a background in anthropology.

They play talharpas – a traditional bowed lyre, popular in Northern Europe since the early middle ages and played on Western Estonian islands until the beginning of 20th century, when it was declared satanistic instrument and destroyed. However – talharpa acts rather strangely in the hands of Puuluup. It is electrified, looped, and often played in experimental techniques. It reminds the old tradition but definitely has another agenda as well.

The lyrics and melodies are a mixture of their musical memories and improvisation. The music may have a dancing beat, or resemble a dark film soundtrack, spy around in the chambers of ancient talharpa players, or travel to far-away lands.

They play with music as well as they play with words singing in Estonian, adding words from other languages, or their own invented words. Live shows of Puuluup are enriched with elements of absurdly lovely choreography and dry humour.
