Born in 1972, Efthimis Karadimas is a pioneering figure in the Greek metal scene. In 1991, he founded Nightfall, making history by securing the first international record deal for a Greek metal band.
Beyond music, Karadimas is a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy, holding a Certificate of Officer 3rd Class (Master), and has earned an MSc from the University of Plymouth, UK. His career spans two seemingly opposite but equally outward-looking industries—music and maritime. This unique background has shaped his critical thinking on fostering mutual understanding among people of different languages, religions, and cultures in pursuit of common goals.
In 2021, with the release of At Night We Prey—an album addressing depression—Karadimas began collaborating with the European Alliance Against Depression in Germany. His goal was to support young metal fans facing social stigma due to mental health struggles. This initiative culminated in the 2025 launch of Metal Music Against Depression, an effort to empower individuals battling mental health issues, encouraging them to embrace their experiences with resilience.
“The medical aspect of mental health is in good hands with science, but the social aspect suffers from misinformation, stigmatization, and exclusion.”
Nightfall’s upcoming album, Children of Eve, is set for release in May 2025 through the French label Season of Mist.
He is married to Stella Tsermentseli, Professor – Developmental Psychopathology & Cognitive Functions, University of Thessaly
