Opening borders, opening markets: Live music in transition

With Romania and Bulgaria’s partial entry into the Schengen Area in 2024, cross-border mobility in parts of Eastern Europe has improved. This shift brings new potential for the live music sector across the Balkans, the Middle East, and Schengen’s eastern edge to attract foreign investment as a way to strengthen local music scenes and infrastructure.

This session brings together venue bookers, festival organisers, and showcase curators to examine what’s missing for these regions to become recognised live music destinations.

Aimed at bookers, DIY artists, and promoters, the discussion will focus on benchmarking infrastructure, identifying local gaps, and connecting grassroots activity with professional circuits to support a more sustainable and internationally visible live music ecosystem.
