Music as training data for GenAI models and the opt-out conundrum

This talk will offer an introduction on the applicability of Text and Data Mining exceptions over the use of pre-existing (human and largely copyrighted) music tracks as training data for GenAI models. It will present the relevant legal framework, with a particular emphasis on different (open) issues related with the entitlement of rightsholders to opt-out from the free use of their musical works for GenAI training purposes.
