This year’s AMW started spectacularly with an opening party on the roof of the Selina hotel
with the amazing view of the Acropolis! The awesome Hume Assine seduced the audience
into dancing with their upbeat tunes, while then Panama Cordon and Virtual Geisha gave
two great DJ sets offering the ideal soundtrack to the first chit chats of this year’s event!
The official opening of AMW took place the next day at Technopolis, on the ground floor of
Innovathens, where the artistic directors of the event, Antonis Zouganelis and George Perot,
welcomed the attendees and summarized the themes of this year’s AMW in a humorous
tone. Immediately afterwards, the audience was divided between the panel in Greek on
“Greek radios & podcasts”, where important questions were raised, such as whether the rise
in popularity of podcasts hides behind it the depreciation of playlists radio, and the open
discussion on Purifier about copyright in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
The presence of the great lyricist Lina Nikolakopoulou in the Amphitheater offered emotion
to the attendees. There he met with Paraskevas Karasoulos, where they discussed and
communicated the experience of their meeting this year at the “Athenian Cafe Theatre”,
while the young performers Apostolos Kitsos, Panagiotis Lampouras, Thodoris Nicolaou and
the composer Christos Theodorou on piano, presented a sample of this performance, which
proved that Greek song remains alive and thriving despite the difficulties of our time.
The workshop on the creation and promotion of social media content on Instagram and Tik
Tok was a hit, while the discussion about how music can be a powerful force for attracting
visitors to countries was also of particular interest. At one point the rain made an
appearance, but that didn’t deter the audience who continued to connect with each other
by exchanging ideas.
The first day closed spectacularly with the showcase concerts at Boiler, Crust and Six d.o.g.s
with sounds that moved from experimental pop to psychedelic punk!
