
Born 1961 in Nigeria he came to Switzerland during the Biafra War. Recital Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Master’s degree (with Hans Werner Henze) and dissertation on melody and inner time awareness at Goldsmiths. His oeuvre includes operas, dance, orchestral, and choral works, main interest in works for ensemble and voice: Canto I, Ricercare, Akhenaten’s Hymnos, Notre Vie, Go, Zimzum, a chantar…, qui plus aime… Most pieces explore identity and deception in connection with electronics. Nri/mimicri deepens birdsong by 8 octaves imitated by the Ondes Martenot. Pieces 2016-2023: Ave Maria, sweet amygdala, qui ainsi me refait…., Mothertongue, sephardic lilt.mimicri, spleen.mimicri, George Floyd trilogy, merrusch, Parmenides Prooimion and Breaking of the Vessels. Performasnces by OENM, ICE, Ekmeles, Amaltea, DLW, Duo Aventure, London Sinfonietta, BBC SSO, LFCO, the SWR Vocal Ensemble and the Bavarian Radio Choir. Recent works: The Great Wall, nids et territoires, ORIRI, Qualia II and 6 songs for low voice (after William Blake). Uzor is a fellow of the Civitella Ranieri Foundation and member of the Akademie der Künste Berlin. Since 2021 he directs the Swiss forum contrapunkt.new art music
