Raised in Heraklion, Greece, by a Cretan mother and a Sudanese father, Marina Satti grew to fully embrace her roots and heritage and shake up the codes of modern music.
After getting a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music (USA), Marina founded fonέs, a women’s polyphonic group, as well as CHÓRES, a choir of 200 women, with whom she promotes Greek traditional songs on the international scene. By placing choirs at the center of her work and celebrating poetic mixtures, Marina Satti created an authentic artistic approach.
It was in 2017 that the general public discovered her with the track Mantissa, which means « fortune teller », and which has gotten more than 50 million views on Youtube. Since then, Marina Satti has been on a meteoric rise and continues to establish her reputation beyond the Greek borders with relays on COLORS,
KEXP, NOWNESS, SOCIETY, or even NPR, and performances in over 20 countries around the world.
In her first album YENNA, released in 2022, the artist evolves between Greek and Balkan influences, enhanced by hiphop rhythms and electronic arrangements; a unique mix that puts her at the forefront of the global pop scene.
